چکیده

Abstract To overcome the severe toxicity and blind absorption zone of conventional lead-based shielding materials for X-rays in 70–90 keV range, lead-free multilayered polymer composites were designed fabricated. The effects direction incidence number layers as well layer thickness ratio (tungsten/ethylene-octene copolymer)/(bismuth/ethylene-octene copolymer) layered on their efficiency studied systematically. Compared to traditional blending, exhibited improved photon attenuation. (layer was 3:7) with 6 had best X-ray ability. Moreover, provided by multi-layered interfaces multiple complementary effect within structure firstly proposed based computer simulations. structural design effectively weakened probability penetration. Therefore, capability can be enhanced through increasing synergistic interfaces. experimental results this study serve guidelines fabrication flexibility, lead-free, lightweight high-efficiency materials.

Reliability Based Design of Multilayered Composites for Electromagnetic Shielding Applications

This paper presents a reliability based design study of multilayered composites for electromagnetic interference shielding applications. In this study, uncertainties in the design and external variables affecting the shielding effectiveness (SE) are modeled based on probability distributions. Monte Carlo simulation is employed at each design point generated via Latin hypercube sampling approach...

Introducing a novel Polyvinyl chloride/Tungsten composites for shielding against gamma and X-ray radiations

Introduction: This study introduces a novel polyvinyl chloride (PVC)/tungsten composites with characterization of their shielding properties by employing different techniques. Methods: The PVC/tungsten composites were produced by employing various weight fractions of tungsten micro-particles including 0, 20, and 40 % wt via melt blending method. In the next st...

Layered Shielding Design for Pet Clinics

The number of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) centers has been growing rapidly. Many of the new facilities have been retrofitted into existing imaging centers and hospitals. Space in the facilities is often cramped, resulting in the hot lab, patient quiet rooms, and the scanners frequently being placed in close proximity to uncontrolled areas where non-occupational dose limits apply. Of part...

Construction shielding design for medical X-ray imaging equipment

There are analytic methods for designing protective barriers however, they lack sufficient efficiency and considering the NCRP (National Council on Radiation Protection and measurements) reports, designing mechanical protective barrier in order to protect the initial x-ray radiation and absorption of the ray quality of such radiation is different. In this study, computer software was designed t...
